Rainbow Trout

Facts

Rainbow Trout, also known as steelhead are one of the most exciting fish we catch on Milwaukee fishing charters. During the summer months we catch good numbers of these acrobatic bullets of steel. It’s unmistakable when one bites! Steelhead are typically surface feeders, preying on bugs that are floating. When a rainbow bites, he is jumping out of the water before you even have the chance of saying “FISH ON”! The peak fishing time for “BOWS”  is typically from late June through the end of August. Normally they are found in deep water in the summer months. 8 hour trips are the norm if you want to target them. We sometimes travel up to 15 miles offshore to find the giant pockets of them. Fishing in Milwaukee for steelhead is near the top of our list for excitement! Don’t miss out on them!
